Reserves Gain Another draw at Farnham Town
Three Hours on a coach in 30 degrees is not the best preparation for a team
Three Hours on a coach in 30 degrees is not the best preparation for a team but that was the start to Greenwich Reserves day as an hour and a half trip to Surrey doubled itself with trouble on the M25. Luckily manager Owen Jones had the wheel of the Air Con Greenwich mini bus to alleviate the problem.
Rolling up to the ground 40 mins before kick-off was therefore not ideal and maybe this was the reason the referee was niggly throughout though being a local he was not inconvenienced so much.
Once the game got under way is was not long before Farnham took an early lead on 5 mins. 1-0
Greenwich pulled it back level on 25 mins with a goal from Stephen Jerrom. 1--1
The cards started to come out for Greenwich then with bookings for Stanley Ngaba on 32 mins and Jordy Akunwami 34 mins.
Frustrations had got the better of Greenwich as they fell behind just before the break on 43 mins 2-1
Half time substitution for Greenwich with Billy Hollaway on and Jerome Wade off.
Another substitution for Greenwich on 49 mins with Ayokunmi Onafujabi replacing Liam Terry
On 59 mins the referee had his cards out again this time for Frankie Beale.
Another change for Greenwich with Jordy Akunwami off and Ramell Laka on after 65 mins
More cards for Greenwich then for Ayokunmi Onafujabi and then followed by a second yellow and his sending off 8 minutes later on 80 mins.
2-1 down and down to 10 men Greenwich by now had their work cut out but a free kick by Frankie Beale on 89 mins snatched a point for a grateful Borough.
Looking back manager Owen Jones reflected on the poor performance putting it possibly down to the travel and the weather but said that the team were very naive at times and didn't show enough character. He said that the officials did not help either but thats no excuse for a bad game. On the positive side he said they had pulled the game back from behind away from home with ten men and now had a week to sort things out before next weeks home game against Chessington and Hook.
