NEWS: Millwall XI to visit DGS Stadium

1 year ago By Greenwich Borough

Championship side confirmed as final friendly of pre-season

The club are delighted to confirm that a Millwall XI will visit the DGS Stadium this pre-season, on July 28th.

Neil Harris' men secured promotion to the Championship thanks to Steve Morison's late winner in the League One Playoff final and they will prepare for their return to the second tier with a match against the Borough.

The Borough manager Gary Alexander enjoys cult status at the Lions' having played 91 times for his boyhood club, scoring 21 goals including his famous goal in the 2008-09 League One play-off final, often dubbed the 'greatest goal at the new Wembley'. Borough players Jack Sammoutis and Chris Parr came through the ranks at Millwall and Peter Sweeney started for the side in the 2004 FA Cup final defeat to Manchester United.
